Police Update

Inspector Mark Luffman and Jerry Herbert – Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner

Minutes:

The written report was noted.

 

Jerry Herbert introduced himself as the new Deputy Police & Crime Commissioner.

 

Points made included:

 

·         The importance of good community engagement from the OPPC.

 

·         Understanding the key issues that matter to Wiltshire residents.

 

·         The growing importance of good community policing and the role of the PCSO.

 

The Chairman thanked Jerry Herbert for his update.

·         That the Institute continued to work with local communities.

 

·         Currently looking at the future of the world of work.

 

·         Developing learning strategies for young people.

 

·         Ongoing Cyber Security training.

 

 

Community Engagement Manager update – Richard Rogers

 

·         A big thank you to everybody who took part in the litter picks. More litter picking equipment would be ordered.

 

Decision

 

·         That the Corsham Area Board grants £300 for the Community Engagement Manager to purchase more litter picking equipment for community litter picks.

 

·         That there was to be a Heritage Walk around Corsham.

 

·         That the Summer of Walking event would include the Wiltshire Walking Relay around Corsham.

           Note: Reallocation of £2,374 funding from Digital solutions to the  Wiltshire Walking Project.

 

·         That a National Armed Forces celebration event would be held in Salisbury during June 2019 – more information on this event would be available at the January 2019 Area Board meeting.

Community Area Grants

·         The Wiltshire Councillors will consider the following applications to the Community Area Grants Scheme.

 

 

·         Reallocation of £2,374 funding from Digital solutions to the Wiltshire Walking Project.

Colerne Rugby Football Club awarded £5,000 for Colerne RFC clubhouse refurbishment.
