After an e-Petition is submitted through the Wiltshire Council
Website
When you submit a petition, it will be looked at by a member of the
Democratic Services team before it is published online.
If we feel we cannot publish your petition for some reason, we will
contact you within this time to explain. You will be able to change
and resubmit your petition if you wish. If you do not do this
within 10 working days, a summary of the petition and the reason
why it has not been accepted will be published under the
‘rejected petitions’ section of the website.
Our team will also seek to clarify any issues or areas where
wording/meaning may be unclear, contacting you via email/telephone
(where applicable), and also within the e-Petitions facility. Our
team will also seek to clarify any issues or areas where
wording/meaning may be unclear, contacting you via email/telephone
(where applicable), and also within the e-Petitions facility. We
will not take action on any petition which we consider to be
vexatious, abusive or otherwise inappropriate and will explain the
reasons for this in our acknowledgement of the petition.
Once approved (it will take a maximum of 5 working days for this to
occur), a online petition or e-Petition will be live on the
Wiltshire Council website, for the period determined by you in your
registration, and open to members of the public to sign for a
period of up to 12months.
After an e-Petition hosted on the Wiltshire Council Website has
closed
When an e-petition has closed for signature, it will automatically
be submitted to Democratic Services, who will process it, and
inform you of any further action, depending on the number of
signatures.
For e-Petitions, a petition acknowledgement and response will be
emailed to everyone who has signed the e-petition and elected to
receive this information. The acknowledgment and response will also
be published on this website.
