Consultation process

Prior to the publication of the recommendations all the proposals were discussed with the former Wiltshire Safety Camera Partnership, as the enforcement agency at the time.

The review recommendations were provided to Parish and Town Councils in the form of a CD in December 2009 and additionally published on the Wiltshire Council website. This was followed by a period of consultation where Parish and Town Councils were given the opportunity to comment on the proposals.  Where comments were received, a further review was undertaken taking the comments expressed into consideration.

During the initial consultation, Westbury Town Council and Cheverell Magna Parish Council commented in support of the proposals for the B3098.  Both Little Cheverell Parish Council andUrchfont Parish Council commented on the review’s recommendations and requested amendments, when requested to provide further information in support of their request only Urchfont Parish Council did so.  Their comments related to the proposals to the east and west of the existing 30 mph restriction within Urchfont and these were resolved via a previous Cabinet Member Decision – reference HT-038-10 Speed Limit Review Batch 2 (Appendix H).

Copies of the proposals were distributed to Wiltshire Police and the locally elected Wiltshire Council Members.

The introduction of any Traffic Regulation Order requires a statutory process which allows comments, either in support or objection to the proposal, to be received.  During this period four correspondents outlined objection, one correspondent outlined support.
