Chairman's Welcome, Introductions and Announcements

Minutes:

The Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting of the Royal Wootton Bassett & Cricklade Area Board and introduced the councillors and officers present.

 

Cricklade Court Leet Charity staff and Sally Maynard- Haynes - health trainer, Wiltshire Council were thanked for their information and advice given during the networking session.

Apologies for Absence

Minutes:

Apologies for absence were received from Cllr Mary Champion – Wiltshire Council, Cllr Mollie Groom – Wiltshire Council, Cllr Chris Hurst – Wiltshire Council, John Davies – RWB Arts Festival, Sheila Dunn – RWB Memorial Hall and Ray Thomas – Purton Parish Council.

6.

Strengthening our Communities

 

Cricklade Court Leet – Clive Smith, Cricklade’s High Bailiff and John Barratt will speak about the Ancient Court Leet history and the North Meadow in Cricklade. There will then be time for questions.

 

 

National Armed Forces Day 2019 events - presentation and video from Alexa Davies, Community Engagement Manager. Request for £1,465.00 funding towards the community activities and transport costs (please see separate report). 

 

 

Grant Funding

Swindon and Cricklade Railway, seeking £4,875.00 for repairs towards railway carriage with modifications for disabled passenger use.

Ronni Lever – Shared Lives Team Leader, Wiltshire Council gave a short presentation that highlighted the Shared Lives Service.

 

Points made included:

 

·         The Shared Lives Service helped people to live as part of a family, where they received the support or care that they needed. Shared Lives carers had a range of experience and qualifications, and offered short or long term placements.

 

·         The service placed adults who had mental health needs or learning disabilities, physical impairments, or were elderly, or those who, for a variety of reasons, could not manage to live without support. The carers’ homes were individual and spread throughout Wiltshire.

 

·         Some Shared Lives carers provided personal care, others offer accommodation and day to day support for those more independent.

 

·         People were matched with a carer and location that suited, so that living together was an enjoyable, fulfilling and valuable experience for all.

 

The Chairman thanked Ronni Lever for her presentation.

 

 

 

Cricklade Court Leet

 

Clive Smith, Cricklade’s High Bailiff and John Barratt gave a short presentation about the Ancient Court Leet and the adjoining North Meadow and the proposed project to install twelve interpretation points to form an audio trail around the site.

 

The Chairman thanked Clive Smith and John Barratt for their presentation.

 

 

National Armed Forces Day 2019

 

A short film was shown outlining National Armed Forces Day 2019 and the events planned for it in Salisbury. Alexa Davies, Community Engagement Manager advised that £1,465.00 funding towards the community activities and transport costs was sought from each Area Board for this event.

 

After a discussion it was agreed to defer the item until the next meeting in order to get feedback from the community area on the level of support for funding this event.

Youth Issues

 

The Royal Wootton Bassett youth report contained in the agenda pack was noted.

 

The Chairman advised that the level of youth funding for the next council year was yet to be revealed, and that she would inform all interested parties as soon as she knew anything.

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust

 

·         That a showing of the film “A plastic ocean, we need a wave of change” would be held on Wednesday 6 February at the Royal Wotton Bassett Methodist Hall at 7pm.

Wrap Up

Minutes:

The Chairman advised that Alexa Davies would be moving on to become the new Calne and Marlborough Community Engagement Manager and that Jane Vaughan would be taking her place at RWB&C. The Area Board Thanked Alexa Davies for her hard work throughout the community areas of Royal Wootton Bassett and Cricklade.
