1. Background
Area Boards have authority to approve Area Grants under powers delegated to them. Under the Scheme of Delegation Area Boards must adhere to the Area Board Grants Guidance

The funding criteria and application forms are available on the council’s website.

2. Main Considerations
2.1. Councillors will need to be satisfied that funding awarded in the 2017/2018 year is made to projects that can realistically proceed within a year of it being awarded.

2.2. Councillors must ensure that the distribution of funding is in accordance with the Scheme of Delegation to Area Boards.

2.3. Councillors will need to be satisfied that the applications meet the Community Area Board grants criteria.

3. Environmental & Community Implications
Grant Funding will contribute to the continuance and/or improvement of cultural, social and community activity and wellbeing in the community area, the extent of which will be dependent upon the individual project.

Financial provision had been made to cover this expenditure.

Corsham Hockey Club

Project Description:
Corsham Hockey would like to apply for desperately needed funding for fixed dugouts on the side of the astro pitch at the Springfield Centre.Without dugouts the club are constantly having to deal with wet kit and equipment unhappy players who have nowhere leave their belonging to shelter from the rain whilst playing.When weather conditions are windy and wet players waiting to be substituted have nowhere to shelter and keep warm before running back on the pitch. Dealing with any injuries and first aid is a consent problem as there is only the cold wet floor to sit on.

Project Description:
Having portable floodlights to use during the Winter months will enable all youth players who are registered within the club to train on the grass. This will also result in the Astro Pitch from being over crowded with too many players in one area. All light will be supervised and used by all coaches and team managers.

The Guinness Partnership

Silman Close Play Area

Project Description:
To supply and install Playforce Vinci Timber Double Bay Swings with 1 cradle seat 1 flat seat and 1 nest swing. This comes as part of a wider project to renew the play area equipment which was deemed unsafe and closed five years ago. The total cost of the wider project is over 30000.00 most of which is being paid for by The Guinness Partnership.
 
Input from Community Engagement Manager:

·         The application meets the grants criteria and can be considered for approval.

·         The majority of funding is being provided from The Guinness Partnership who have a time limited window to build this play area. All funding needs to be in place and the order put in by March

·         The small additional amount being requested is to free up some resource to enable the site to be properly prepared ready for the new equipment. This was a request from the residents
