To consider comments received to the advertised proposals to introduce a 20 mph speed limit at Chilmark and to recommend implementation as advertised.

I approve that:

(i)       The 20 mph limit be implemented as advertised.

(ii)      Those who made comment be informed accordingly.

This decision was published on 17 March 2020 and will come into force on 25 March 2020.         

The proposals have been assessed and developed in accordance with the guidance provided by the Department for Transport and the adopted Wiltshire policy on 20 mph speed restrictions.

(i)       To implement the advertised changes.

(ii)      To implement the advertised changes with additional amendments to the speed limits in the area.

Consultation has been undertaken with:

•         Chilmark Parish Council through the South West Wiltshire Community Area Transport Group.

•         The elected Wiltshire Council Member representing Nadder and East Knoyle

through the South West Wiltshire Community Area Transport Group and statutory Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) consultation process.

•         Members of the public through the statutory TRO consultation process.

•         Emergency services through the statutory TRO consultation process.

The proposal was subject to formal advertisement between 28 November 2019 and 23 December 2019.  During the advertisement period a total of two items of comment were received, of which one could be classed as an objection. This report considers the comments made in relation to the proposed speed limit changes.
