CS-02-20(previously 01_2020): Proposal to Increase Rowdeford School Place Numbers from 130 to 170

Decision Maker: Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Children's Services, Education and Skills

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

To approve the Council to make a prescribed alteration to Rowdeford Special School in Rowde, near Devizes, by increasing the school’s current planned places number from 130 to 170.

Decision:

Following consultation, I give notice that I have made the decision to Increase Rowdeford School places numbers from 130 to 170 as set out in the report.

This decision was published on 21 May 2020 and will come into force on 9 June 2020.

Reasons for the decision:

To regularise the registered places number with the number of children attending the school, thereby meeting DfE legislative requirements and guidance.

Alternative options considered:

Regularising the registered places number with the actual number of children attending the school would meet legislative requirements and can continue to be delivered with existing space and resource. The alternative ‘do nothing’ would carry the risks identified in this paper.

Other reasons / organisations consulted

It was agreed with Rowdeford School to start the statutory four-week consultation period on 9 March 2020. During this formal consultation period there were three responses all in favour of the proposal and no objections.
