Decision:

To approve suspension of all non-urgent repairs and associated visits by the Housing team and associated contractors to council owned housing stock to comply with government guidance on controlling the COVID–19 pandemic.

Reasons for the decision:

This decision would in other circumstances be taken by the Housing Board and Cabinet. However, in circumstances where the Housing Board and Cabinet are unable to meet to expedite their functions in a timely manner during the COVID-19 pandemic, this decision is being taken in accordance with the power referred to under background below. This decision will be reported to the next meeting of the Housing Board and Cabinet.

Further to the measures to delay the spread of COVID-19 announced by Government consideration has been made to what areas of the service can be delivered and it is recommended that all non-urgent repairs are cancelled and no new requests for service considered with immediate effect as per their guidance on social distancing.

Requests for service will be recorded for processing once guidance allows.

The services will continue to deliver compliancy work, emergency repairs and void property repairs

To ensure compliance with guidance on self-distancing from the Housing Repairs Service, its contractors and to protect Wiltshire Council tenants and staff

Background: Pursuant to paragraph 4 of Part 3 Section D, the Directors of Wiltshire Council are is empowered to take all necessary decisions in cases of emergency. This decision is being taken by [Simon Hendey] using these powers in circumstances where the Director concerned believes that there is a risk of damage to property, a threat to the health or wellbeing of an individual and/or that the interests of the Council may be compromised if this decision is not otherwise taken.
