Commemorating 100 years since WW1 - An opportunity to find out some of what has and will be happening within the community area

Minutes:

The Chairman and Kevin Gaskin introduced Commemorating 100 years since WW1 -Representatives from the community area were given the opportunity to outline some of what had and would be happening within the community area.

 

Representatives included Alan Payne – Box, Paul Jobbins – Colerne, Kevin Gaskin - Corsham Commemorates, Rachel McHenry - Lacock - History Group,

Rita McLoughlin – Schools and Richard Rogers - WW1 Tree project.

 

The Chairman thanked all the representatives for their hard work in showing how WW1 had impacted on their respective communities.

Corsham Neighbourhood Plan

Dave Martin to talk about the plan and the consultation process

Minutes:

Dave Martin – Corsham Town Council gave a short update about the plan and the consultation process.

 

Points made included:

 

·         That the current public consultation ends on13 December 2017.

 

·         When the Plan had been adopted, it would be monitored to ensure that the policies within it are effective in delivering the Corsham community’s aspirations.

 

·         A Corsham Neighbourhood Plan Delivery and Monitoring Group would be established to help ensure that matters progress in a timely manner.

 

·         A Delivery Plan would itemise each policy and objective, and provide details of the targets, performance indicators and delivery status.

 

·         The Group would be required to produce an annual report on achievements, benefits, risks and failures.

 

·         The Group would advise the Town Council on whether the Neighbourhood Plan objectives were being met and the policies were being adhered to.

 

·         The Group would establish whether each policy was working, whether it was delivering the underlying objectives, and whatthe significant effects of this were.

 

The Chairman thanked Dave Martin for his update.

·         That work on the neighbourhood plan was now well underway.

 

·         That the Parish Council were looking at road safety, with a view to two new pedestrian crossings being planned.

·         Christmas lights switch on – 12 December.

 

 

Digital Corsham

 

·         February 2018 – Safer Internet Day, with many activities being planned to coincide with this.

 

 

Schools

 

·         That the Schools Cluster continues to go from strength to strength.

Health and Wellbeing Work

Report back from the H&WB Group – Cllr Brian Mathew

 

Funding Requests:

 

·         Brunel Shed are requesting £1,440 for a project to purchase special tools and deliver sessions for those living with dementia

 

·         The Health and Wellbeing Group are looking for £450 for display boards and leaflet stands to promote what it can offer and advertise volunteering opportunities

 

·         The Health and Wellbeing Group are looking for £350 for a Celebrating Age Event

Update of the restoration of a mining trolley

Rodney Veazey to tell us about the project to produce a piece of heritage art for Corsham

Minutes:

Rodney Veazey gave a short power point presentation of the ongoing work by the Corsham Men’s Shed Group to restore a mining trolley as used in the local stone mines. When completed the mining trolley would be sited at the Springfield Campus.

 

The Chairman thanked Rodney Veazey for his update and looked forward to seeing the completed mining trolley.

Youth Grants
