Welcome and Introductions

The Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting of the Amesbury Area Board and thanked The Redworth Centre for hosting the meeting.

 

At the Chairman’s invitation, the Councillors introduced themselves.

To confirm the minutes of the meeting held on 17 November 2016.

Decision

The minutes of the meeting held on 17 November 2016 were agreed as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.

Declarations of Interest

To receive any declarations of disclosable interests or dispensations granted by the Standards Committee.

5.

Chairman's Announcements

The Chairman will introduce the announcements and invite any questions.

The Chairman referred to the announcement contained within the agenda pack.

 

The Chairman congratulated Amesbury for their Christmas lights and Christmas tree over the festive period noting how nice it was for the community.

 

The Chairman explained that the highways proposals due at the meeting had been delayed and it was agreed that a letter of disappointment would be sent from the Area Board to the Highways department at Wiltshire Council.

Police and Crime Commissioners Precept Consultation

Due to technical difficulties the percept consultation video was unable to be shown, although those present were informed that a link to the consultation video was included in the agenda which could be accessed on the Wiltshire Council website or on youtube. Further information on how to respond to the precept consultation was included in the agenda. The Community Engagement Manager explained that he would email all of the Parish and Town Councils a link to the consultation.

Community Area Grants

To determine the applications for Community Area Grant funding.

At the Chairman’s invitation, Councillor Fred Westmoreland, Lead member for Grants, introduced each grant.

 

It was noted that a Members initiative was granted under delegated authority for the provision of yellow hatchings on the Countess Roundabout on the south east section for £2,743. This was subject to both Amesbury and Durrington Town Councils agreeing to contribute to the initiative.

 

 

Decision

Amesbury Town Council was awarded £575.99 towards replacement road name signage.

Reason - The application met the Community Area Grants Criteria 2016/17.

 

 

Decision

Brambles pre-school was awarded £1,000.00 towards an outdoor Sensory Project

Reason - The application met the Community Area Grants Criteria 2016/17.

 

 

Decision

Amesbury & Boscombe Down Link Scheme was awarded £5,000.00 towards Amesbury Link new transport.

Reason - The application met the Community Area Grants Criteria 2016/17.

 

 

Decision

Bulford Parish Council was awarded £1971.30 towards refurbishment of the whole village Hall

Reason - The application met the Community Area Grants Criteria 2016/17.

 

 

Decision

Bulford Parish Council was awarded £1092.00 towards simple SIDS for the community speed scheme.

Reason - The application met the Community Area Grants Criteria 2016/17.

 

 

Decision

Idmiston Parish Memorial Hall was awarded £981.90 towards the Idmiston Parish Memorial Hall short mat bowls club.

Reason - The application met the Community Area Grants Criteria 2016/17.

 

 

Decision

Shrewton Cricket Club was awarded £5,000.00 towards grounds Maintenance Equipment.

Reason - The application met the Community Area Grants Criteria 2016/17.

 

 

Decision

Christ the King RC Primary School, Amesbury was awarded £3,500.00

towardsWilliam Brannon Memorial Sensory Garden.

Reason - The application met the Community Area Grants Criteria 2016/17.

 

 

Decision

Shrewton Methodist Church was awarded £900.00 towards a ceiling Replacement.

Reason - The application met the Community Area Grants Criteria 2016/17.

Urgent items

Any other items of business which the Chairman agrees to consider as a matter of urgency.

Minutes:

A question was asked about the availability of award schemes at Wiltshire Council for Wiltshire residents.

 

It was noted that Wiltshire Council did have a variety of award schemes, which the CEM would find out more information about. The CEM explained that the local Town or Parish could also introduce a local award scheme and that other Area Boards offered themed awards which could be something that the Amesbury Area Board introduced. 

9.

Future Meeting Dates, Evaluation and Close

The next meeting of the Amesbury Area Board will be held on:

 

·       26 January – Our Community Matters Event – Antrobus House, Amesbury

 

Please note that there will be a date change to the Area Board meeting scheduled for the 23 March. Further details will be available on the Wiltshire Council website as soon as that date has been set.

It was noted that the next meeting of the Amesbury Area Board would be held on 2 March, 7pm at the  South Newton & Great Wishford Village Hall, Warminster Road, Stoford, Salisbury SP2 0QW.
