Shared Lives Service
A video from the Shared Lives was shown to raise awareness about the scheme. As part of Shared Lives, vulnerable adults could live as part of a family, within their carer's home, where they received support, care and companionship.
Following the video, Nicky Harris from Shared Lives provided the following information in response to questions from the Area Board:
· Referrals were placed in three bands with those requiring the greatest support, such as personal care, in band three.
· Financial renumeration was available to carers. People supporting a vulnerable adult on a long-term placement in band one received approximately £453 per week, those in band two approximately £540 and band three approximately £649.
· Respite day care was also offered in addition to opportunities for long term placements.
· Mandatory training would be provided by the team, and they would be supported to complete a care certificate. Additional support would be provided for families caring for people with complex medical conditions such as epilepsy.
The Area Board praised the work of the Shared Lives scheme in supporting vulnerable members of the community and thanked the officer for answering questions.
Cllr Jacqui Lay suggested that advertising in parish magazines would be a good way to share information about the service. The Strategic Engagement and Partnerships Manager (SEPM), Andrew Jack, stated that his team would be able to share contacts with the Shared Lives team.
Wiltshire Police Neighbourhood Team
Inspector Scott Anger provided an update, including:
· A new officer will be joining the team supporting the Royal Wootton Bassett area in the next few weeks as part of the government’s funding uplift for neighbourhood policing.
· The team had carried out tack marking at local stables which would help to identify equine equipment if it was ever stolen.
· Eight young suspects had been identified in connection with burglary in Lyneham.
· A racially aggravated public order offense had occurred in Royal Wootton Bassett in May. A suspect was arrested within 48 hours of the incident after being identified using ring doorbell footage.
· Several community consultations had been held to gather community feedback and address local priorities.
· A mobile community police station visited the community area every seven weeks and attended major community events.
· There had been issues with a group of youths in Royal Wootton Bassett, including a robbery of another pupil at Royal Wootton Bassett Academy. Prompt action was taken to address this issue.
· Other areas of focus included tackling speeding in Purton, car meets at White Hill Industrial Estate, and off-road bikes causing issues in Cricklade.
· Inspector Anger invited members of the Area Board to contact him if they had any concerns in their divisions.
During the discussion, points included:
· Thanks were given to Inspector Anger for his update.
· The Area Board stated that they would welcome further information in the presentation about the priorities in other geographical areas within the community area such as Lyneham and the Lydiards. It was noted that Broad Hinton was in the Area Board’s area but was covered by a different neighbourhood police team.
· Thanks were given to the team for their help in tackling anti-social behaviour in Cowleaze.
Families’ Day
The SEPM reported on a successful event at Line Kiln Leisure Centre showcasing different activities for young people and families, including Afghan families under the resettlement scheme. Approximately 100 people had attended, including representatives from 12 youth and sport groups.
Carers’ Information Day
It was reported by the SEPM that the information day, held in Memorial Hall in Royal Wootton Bassett, had been attended by over 20 organisations. Lots of productive conversations had been held, ideas shared and people directed to the most appropriate support. The information day was the second of four events. The first event had been held in Cricklade and there would be a further event in Purton in October. A report is attached to these minutes with further details about the event in the Memorial Hall.
Purton Parish Council
Geoff Greenaway from Purton Parish Council was pleased to report that works were underway to refurbish the play park at Play Close, including new surfaces. Support was also ongoing for a small nature site near the cricket ground, with new saplings planted. He highlighted that there was an error in the agenda pack, where Purton Parish Council was referred to as a town council.
