To:

(i)            Consider comments and objections to the advertised proposals for amendments to the Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) applicable to on-street pay and display areas in Wiltshire.

(ii)          Recommend the making of the Orders.

I approve that the following Traffic regulation Orders be implemented as advertised:

THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE (MALMESBURY AND MALMESBURY WITHOUT)(PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING, TAXI RANK CLEARWAYS AND ON-STREET PARKING) CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2017 (AMENDMENT NO.6) ORDER 2022

THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE (SALISBURY)(PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING, TAXI RANK CLEARWAYS AND ON-STREET PARKING) CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2013 (AMENDMENT NO.30) ORDER 2022

This decision was published on 29 September 2022 and will come into force    on 7 October 2022.         

To consider 35 objections in connection with the proposed introduction of a 50-mph speed limit on the new North Chippenham Link Road extending from the A350 Malmesbury Road roundabout to the B4069 (see Appendix 2). This is being constructed as part of the Birds Marsh View development and provides highway access to this estate via two interim junctions on this road. There were no responses in support of the 50-mph limit as advertised.

I approve that the proposal to introduce the 50-mph speed limit over the length of the North Chippenham Link Road between the A350 and the B4069 should be amended to introduce a 40-mph speed limit over the same extents. 

This decision was published on 29 September 2022 and will come into force on 7 October 2022.

To consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) relating to the introduction of a 20-mph speed limit on various roads within the town of Durrington and to recommend an appropriate way forward.

DECISION MADE

            I approve that:

(i)               The proposals be implemented as advertised.

(ii)              The objectors be advised accordingly.

This decision was published on  27 September 2022 and will come into force on 5 October 2022.

To consider the 10 objections (and 1 letter of support from Chippenham Town Council) to the proposed extension of No-Waiting at Any Time restrictions on part of Middlefield Road and Middle Leaze, Chippenham (see Appendix 2).

This is a second Cabinet Member report on this matter and is required to address the inadvertent omission of eight of the representations made at the time of the consultation.  The report is being re-written in line with  the advice of the Council’s Legal Team.

All representations have now been included in Appendix 2 and considered as part of the report.
