Road flooding preventative measures

We the undersigned petition the council to procure and install effective measures to mitigate flooding risk on the B3105 (Staverton Causeway) and B3107 (Holt-Melksham, Challeymead junction)

Effective flood mitigation measures are becoming increasingly more important as weather patterns shift towards less favourable conditions.
As fewer key road routes through West Wiltshire remain passable in adverse weather conditions, the build-up of traffic on alternative routes is costing thousands of hours of people's time in congestion, and concentrating traffic and subsequent pollution in areas such as Bradford-On-Avon, and the southern and western parts of Melksham.

Flood mitigation measures will clearly alleviate these concerns by allowing road traffic to flow normally rather than concentrating through the few remaining available routes.

Council money spent on civil engineering projects such as this will provide clear benefits to a significant number of residents, and can certainly be implemented in a cost-effective way.
