Stop the new mine entrance & industrial activity at Rudloe Firs

We the undersigned petition the council to Stop the new mine entrance and stone cutting / crushing works at Rudloe Firs, SN13 0PH (Planning Application No: 19/07824/FUL)

This planning application proposal (19/07824/FUL) will create a new mine entrance and industrial facility (for stone cutting, crushing and haulage). The site is adjacent to the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - with beautiful views over the tranquil Bybrook Valley. Entrance and exit for the many 15 metre long Heavy Goods Vehicles will be on to the already busy and fast (50 mph zone) A4, Bath Road. This is at the top of Box Hill on a bend in the road. Trees will need to be felled in a small woodland which provides refuge for bats (10 of 17 British bat species), deer, hedgehogs, owls and other wildlife. There are no public benefits to this proposal. Over 60 people have submitted objections to the Council, raising concerns about: noise, dust, diesel pollution, extended operational hours (0600-0630 weekdays, 0600-1300 Saturdays), environmental degradation and a proposed unsafe junction with the A4 for slow moving HGVs. Residents are likely to be adversely affected, particularly those living in Rudloe (south of the A4, Bath Road), Lower Rudloe, Bybrook View, and Pickwick Court. Businesses such as local hotels, B&Bs and restaurants may find that visitors wishing to enjoy the peaceful countryside no longer come to this tranquil part of Wiltshire.
