How can I sign a Petition?

Anyone who lives, works or studies in the local authority area, or uses the services provided by Wiltshire Council, including under 18's, can sign up to an existing petition and a response and/or action from Wiltshire Council is guaranteed if sufficient support is received.

Signing a paper Petition

Community organisers or Campaigners may approach you to sign a petition asking for Wiltshire Council to take action on a certain issue. To ensure your support is registered simply add your signature and address to the petition.

Signing a e-Petition hosted on the Wiltshire Council website

You can sign epetitions registered on our website here.

When you sign an e-petition you will be asked to provide your name, your postcode and a valid email address to confirm the signatures collected online are genuine. Once you have submitted this information you will be sent an email to the email address you have provided. This email will include a link which you must click on in order to confirm the email address is valid. The information you provide will only be used for this purpose. Once this step is complete your ‘signature’ will be added to the petition. People visiting the e-petition will be able to see your name in the list of those who have signed it but your contact details will not be visible.

Signing a e-Petition hosted on an external website

If you sign a petition hosted electronically on another website this will not automatically notify Wiltshire Council, petition organisers using external websites should alert the Council to the petition by contacting Democratic Services at committee@wiltshire.gov.uk
