Purpose:

To consider 36 representations (including 2 objections) in response to the proposal for a change of speed limit and pedestrian crossing on the B4042, Royal Wootton Bassett.  All responses are accepting of the introduction of a crossing and the principle of the lowering of the limit but at the same time request an extension to the length of the proposed 40 mph limit (see Appendices 3 and 4).

I approvethat the proposals be implemented as advertised.

 

This decision was published on 26 January 2015 and will come into force on 3 February 2015.

 

Reasons for the decision:

Introduction of a 40 mph speed limit (extension of current limit) and the implementation of a pedestrian crossing on the B4042, to improve the safety of the users of the adjacent highway.

(i)       Implement proposal as advertised.

 

(ii)      Not implement proposal.

Other reasons / organisations consulted

Consultations (at pre-consultation and full consultation stage) have been undertaken with the Fire, Police and Ambulance Services and also with the relevant bus companies. The Town and Parish Councils have been consulted, along with consultation with the local Wiltshire Council Members.  Advertisements have been posted in the local press and notices posted in a prominent position on site (see Appendices 1 and 2).
