Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport

Decision status: Recommendations Approved (subject to call-in)

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

To review the eligibility and deployment criteria for the use of temporary Speed Indicator Devices (SIDs) on the highway network in Wiltshire and to recommend the adoption of revised criteria.

Decision:

I approve that the revised eligibility and deployment criteria for temporary Speed Indicator Devices be adopted.

This decision was published on 5 October 2015 and will come into force on 13 October 2015.

Reasons for the decision:

SIDs have proved to be an effective and popular means of raising awareness of vehicle speeds.  The revised criterion allows SID deployment to continue in response to requests from local communities whilst being cost neutral to the Council.

Alternative options considered:

To:

(i)         Adopt the revised criteria.

(ii)        Not adopt the revised criteria.
