Purpose:

To:

 

(i)         Consider objections to proposed amendments to the layout of waiting restrictions in Mere Town Centre.

 

(ii)        Recommend implementing the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) with amendments to the Council’s proposals as set out in Appendix 4.

Decision:

I approve that:

 

(i)              The Traffic Regulation Order be made with the amendments as listed above and in accordance with Appendix 4.

 

(ii)             Objectors and commenters be informed accordingly.

 

 

This decision was published on 20 July 2016 and will come into force on 28 July 2016. 

Reasons for the decision:

In light of the comments received during the consultation period, it is felt that the proposal is the most appropriate course of action to balance the issues faced by residents and provide increased parking for local businesses and/or improving traffic flows.

Alternative options considered:

To:

 

(i)       Implement the proposals as advertised in Appendix 1.

 

(ii)      Implement the proposals with amendments as set out in Appendix 4.

 

(iii)      Abandon the proposals.

• Councillor George Jeans, the elected Wiltshire Council Member for Mere.

 

• Mere Town Council through its original request to implement a review of waiting restrictions and through the statutory TRO consultation process.

• Emergency services through the statutory TRO consultation process
