Purpose:

To consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of the extension to the controlled zone at Bath Road, Atworth and to recommend an appropriate way forward.

Decision:

That:

 

(i)            The proposals be amended to take into account the concerns raised.

 

(ii)          The objectors be informed accordingly.

 

 

This decision was published on 26 July 2016 and will come into force on 3 August 2016.

Reasons for the decision:

The shortening of the advertised outbound controlled zones is considered to be reasonable.  It is not considered that the overall safety will be compromised and the changes address the concerns raised.

Alternative options considered:

To:

 

(i)            Implement the advertised changes.

 

(ii)          Amend the advertised changes in accordance with the comments made.

Other reasons / organisations consulted

A plan outlining the extent of the proposal was provided to Atworth Parish Council for its information and consideration. During the advertisement period for the extension of the controlled zone, four letters of comment have been received, three of which are objections and one letter of support.  No comment was received from the affected Wiltshire Council Member.
