Purpose:

To consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of proposed amendments to parking and waiting restrictions in New Road, Chippenham.

(i)            The proposals be implemented as advertised.

 

(ii)          The objectors be informed accordingly.

 

 

This decision was published on 8 June 2017 and will come into force on 16 June 2017.

        

 

Reasons for the decision:

The proposals have been developed to ensure that safe and appropriate access is maintained for cycle users. Failure to enable access will result in a compromised cycle facility and increase the potential risk of injury to users.

Alternative options considered:

To:

 

(i)         Implement the advertised changes.

 

(ii)        Abandon the proposals and retain the existing restriction.

Other reasons / organisations consulted

The Traffic Regulation Orders were formally advertised during February and March 2017. During this period three comments in objection were received, including a response from Chippenham Town Council.

 

Copies were also sent to the locally elected Wiltshire Council Member, Chris Caswill.  He acknowledged receipt and outlined no objection to the proposal.
