1. This report summarises the results of the public consultation undertaken between September and October 2009 and the statutory proposals published on 26 November 2009.
The local support, with that of the Diocese of Salisbury, shows that an amalgamation has every chance of being successful and ensuring the maximum benefits for the pupils and communities.
Other reasons / organisations consulted
1. Following the public consultation referred to in 1 above the Cabinet member for Children’s Services decided to publish statutory proposals to amalgamate the schools from 1 April 2010 and open a new primary school.
2. The report attached to the Cabinet Members decision of 5 November 2009 detailed the public consultation process and its outcome.
3. The statutory proposals to implement the consultation and open a new primary school were published on 26 November 2009. Copies of the proposals are attached. There have been no objections to the statutory proposals and the notices expired on 7 January 2010.
