Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Finance, Development Management and Strategic Planning
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: Yes
Cabinet resolved on 15 March 2016 to transfer any public conveniences to those towns and parishes that wished to manage the facilities. The decision did not specifically refer to the former public conveniences at Patford Street, Calne due to previous closure by North Wiltshire District Council.
Authority is now sought for the transfer of the freehold interest in the subject property to Calne Town Council at nil consideration. This is in accordance with the Cabinet Decision, and will enable the facility to be brought back into use by the Town Council.
DECISION MADE
Following consultation with officers I give notice that I have made the decision set out in the attached report.
This decision was published on 7 March 2019 and will come into effect on 15 March 2019.
The transfer is in accordance with the decision made by Cabinet on 15 March 2016 and will enable Calne Town Council to provide operational public conveniences in the town.
Retain ownership of the freehold interest; the property has been non-operational for some years and is in apparent poor condition. It is not in a strategic location and is considered to be unsuitable for occupation other than as public conveniences or possibly storage. On this basis, its continued ownership is not considered to be of benefit to the Council.
