To:

(i)         Consider the objections received to the advertised proposal for a Toucan Crossing and amendments to parking and waiting restrictions on Cocklebury Road, Chippenham. 

(ii)        Recommend the making of the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) to implement the parking and waiting restrictions.

I approve that:

(i)             The proposals be implemented as advertised.

(ii)            The objectors be informed accordingly.

This decision was published on 7 October 2020 and will come into force on 15 October 2020.

After consideration of the correspondence received alongside the officer’s comments it is considered appropriate to implement the proposals as advertised as they further improve the Chippenham Cycle Network which is a key element of the Council’s Business Plan and priorities.

To:

(i)                               Implement the proposals as advertised.

(ii)                              Not implement the proposals.

The Traffic Regulation Orders for the amendments to the parking and waiting restrictions and consultation for the Toucan Crossing and its associated controlled zone was advertised from 6 August 2020 until 31 August 2020.

During the formal consultation period a total of thirteen items of comment were received.  Four of the items outlined support for the proposal including the Chippenham Cycle Network Development Group. The remaining nine items outlined objection to the proposals, with one offering support for some specific elements. Several general comments on the proposal have also been recorded. No response to the proposals was received from either the Town Council or the locally elected member.
