To consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of the proposed Traffic Regulation Orders associated with the introduction of speed limits for the A361, A4 and A4361 at Avebury, Berwick Bassett, Broad Hinton, Winterbourne Bassett and Winterbourne Monkton and to identify an appropriate way forward.

DECISION MADE

            I approve that:

(i)               The proposal be implemented as advertised.

(ii)              The objectors be advised accordingly.

               This decision was published on 29 November 2021 and will come into force on 7 December 2021.

The proposal is based upon the recommendation made by the Council’s independent highway consultants (Atkins) who have reviewed the roads in line with the speed limit setting guidance provided by the Department for Transport.

To:

(i)               Implement the advertised changes.

(ii)              Abandon the proposal and retain the existing restriction.

The consultation ended on 2 August 2021.

During the consultation period a total of 11comments were received. One comment was a direct objection to this proposal.  Four comments received were specifically supportive of the proposal and six comments identified further requests or changes to improve road safety in the area. 

The proposal has been developed following prioritisation by the Marlborough Community Area Transport Group, a sub group to the Marlborough Area Board.
