Purpose:

To consider the 41 representations received in relation to the proposed extension of the existing 30 mph speed limit on the B4039 south of Yatton Keynell for a distance of 40 metres to the south (see Appendix 2).

Decision:

I approve that the proposals be implemented as previously advertised.

 

 

This decision was published on 10th February 2022 and will come into force on 18th February 2022.

Reasons for the decision:

The introduction of the extended 30 mph speed limit will provide a safer environment for residents while meeting the clear guidance and criteria of DfT Circular 01/13; Setting Local Speed Limits and DfT Traffic Advice Leaflet 01/04; Village Speed Limits.

Alternative options considered:

To:

 

(i)       Implement the proposals as previously advertised.

 

(ii)       Not implement the proposals.

 

(iii)      Implement the proposals with a further amendment.

Other reasons / organisations consulted

Consultations were undertaken initially from 21 October 2021 to 15 November 2021 with the Fire Service, Police and Ambulance Service and with an advertisement on the local press along with site notices (see Appendix 1).
