Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: Yes
To:
(i) Consider comments received to the advertised proposals for an extended 40mph speed limit at Free’s Avenue, Marlborough.
(ii) Recommend the re-advert of the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) with amendments to the original advertised proposal.
I approve the implementation of the proposals as advertised.
This decision was published on 1 October 2024 and will come into effect on 9 October 2024.
The proposal is intended to improve road and pedestrian safety and to reduce concerns of safety expressed by Marlborough Town Council.
The comments in the objection have been considered by the Marlborough Local Highway and Footway Improvement Group and Area Board, which includes Marlborough Town Council, which, on reflection agree with the comments and subsequent suggestion to reduce the length of proposed 40mph restriction.
The comments set out in Appendix 2 on the objection received indicate that it is considered appropriate to re-advertise the scheme with amendments detailed in Appendix 3.
To:
(i) Implement the proposals as advertised.
(ii) Not implement the proposals.
(iii) Re-advertise the proposals with amendments.
Other reasons / organisations consulted
The proposal has been developed following prioritisation by the Marlborough Area Board.
The proposed TRO was subject to a formal consultation which ended on 11 December 2023. During the consultation period a total of two items of correspondence were received in response to the Council’s proposals. Of those items relating to the speed limit proposals, one expressed support for the Council’s proposals, and one objected to the Council’s proposals.
