To consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of a proposed 40-mph speed limit extension in Bishop Cannings, to include the following road and to recommend an appropriate way forward.
I approve that:
(i) The proposals be implemented as advertised.
(ii) The objectors be advised accordingly.
This decision was published on 8 November 2024 and will come into effect on 18 November 2024.
Alterations to the speed limit on Horton Road is proposed in response to concerns raised by the Devizes LHFIG on behalf of Bishops Cannings Parish Council and the local community. The assessment has been completed in accordance with the relevant Department for Transport Guidance and the proposals meet the expectation of this.
To:
(i) Implement the proposals as advertised.
(ii) Implement the proposals as advertised with amendments.
(iii) To abandon the proposals.

The proposed changes were subject to formal consultation ending on 18 March 2024. The advertisement plan can be seen in Appendix 1. During the consultation period a total of four items of correspondence were received in response to the Council’s proposals. Of the items received, three expressed support or partial support for the Council’s proposals, also requesting additional measures and one expressed objection requesting additional measures be taken. A list of respondents can be found in Appendix 2.
