Decision details

WPE-005-11 - Land at Broomcroft Road, Pewsey

Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning, Development Management, Strategic Housing, Operational Property and Waste

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

To approve the disposal of an area of land of approximately 0.2 ha (0.5 acres) to Redcliffe Homes on terms to be agreed by the Head of Strategic Property Services.

Redcliffe Homes, the owners of adjacent land, have approached the Council seeking to acquire a small piece of land to enable the comprehensive development of a larger site of approx 1.73 ha ( 4.27 acres) between Broomcroft Road and High Street, Pewsey.

Decision:

That:

Land adjoining Broomcroft Road, Pewsey Melksham, approximately as indicated hatched red on the plan (at Appendix 1)  be disposed of to the adjoining owner on terms to be agreed by the Head of Strategic Property Services.

Reasons for the decision:

To dispose of a small parcel of land which is currently unused and by itself has very little beneficial use for the Council and to obtain a capital receipt.  This will also enable the development of a larger site to proceed with associated community benefits.

Alternative options considered:

To:

(i)         Dispose of the land.

(ii)        Not dispose of the land.

Other reasons / organisations consulted

Due to the small size of this site, we have not consulted internally regarding this proposed disposal
