Purpose:

To approve the disposal of an area of land of approximately 621 square metres in the area indicated edged red on the plan on the open market and on terms to be agreed by the Head of Strategic Property Services.

 

Background

 

The land shown edged red on the plan (Appendix 1) was acquired from EH Bradley and Sons Limited as public open space in accordance with the terms of a planning agreement relating to the development of the Monkton Park estate. It is subject to a restriction on use. North Wiltshire District Council received expressions of interest from adjoining householders and contacted the developer to negotiate the removal of the restriction. Bradleys have obtained planning permission for a single dwelling and it is now proposed that the land be sold with the benefit of that planning permission. A division of the costs and proceeds has been agreed with Bradleys.

 

 

Decision:

That:

 

               (i)         Land at Bruges Close, chippenham, approximately as indicated edged red on the plan at Appendix 1 be disposed of on the open market on terms to be agreed by the Head of Strategic Property Services.

 

Reasons for the decision:

To dispose of a small parcel of land and obtain a capital receipt.

(i)         Dispose of the land.

 

(ii)        Not dispose of the land.

 

Other reasons / organisations consulted

Internal consultation with relevant departments has been carried out and there is no Council requirement for this land. In addition, consultation has been carried out as part of the E H Bradley planning application. Notices publicising the intention to dispose of land acquired for public open space will be placed in the relevant local paper.
