To update and provide clarity to the 2012/13 Area Boards grants process.

These proposals seek to ensure the smooth delivery of Area Boards grants through the adoption of funding criteria and guidance to ensure an easily accessible and transparent process for both the community and voluntary sector and members of the Area Boards and that greater emphasis is put on activities and projects led by the community and voluntary groups.

To provide greater scope for community led projects and activities undertaken by the voluntary and community sector in each community area; to ensure clarity and transparency of area board/councillor led projects and provide area boards with greater clarity on the administrative and decision making processes associated with the full range of delegated Area Board Grant Funding.

No change to the grant process or make a range of minor improvements to the funding criteria and application forms (provided to us by councillors, officers and members of the public), to ensure ease of use and greater clarity.

To only give small grants to those with a formal constitution or to allow un-constituted groups to apply, in an effort to enhance the opportunity to build local capacity in communities.
