Purpose:

To consider the objections received in response to the formal advertisement of the Traffic Regulation Orders associated with the proposed waiting on School Lane, Staverton.

 

Decision:

That:

 

(i)              The proposals be amended to prohibit parking “Monday – Friday 8.30 am -      9.30 am and 2.30 pm – 3.30 pm”.

 

(ii)             The objectors be informed accordingly.

 

Reasons for the decision:

The proposals have been developed in response to concerns raised by Staverton Primary School regarding the negative impact of vehicles causing congestion along School Lane through inappropriate parking. The proposals have been discussed with Staverton Primary School through the Taking Action on School Journeys project. 

 

Alternative options considered:

To:

 

(i)              Implement the proposals as advertised.

 

(ii)             Abandon the proposals.

 

(iii)            Amend the proposals in accordance with the comments received.

 

 

Other reasons / organisations consulted

The Traffic Regulation Orders for the proposals were advertised during May 2013.  During the formal consultation period, seven letters of objection were received, including comment from Wiltshire Councillor, Trevor Carbin.
