Purpose:

To consider the points of objection received following the advertisement of the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) associated with the permanent 20 mph speed limit in Westwood.

 

 

Decision:

Following the expiry of the Westwood 20 mph limit experimental order, a decision is required on whether or not to make the restriction permanent or reinstate the previous 30 mph limit.

Alternative options considered:

To:

 

(i)              Implement the proposals as advertised.

 

(ii)              Remove the experimental 20 mph restriction and reinstate the previous 30 mph speed limit.

As part of the formal statutory process, copies of the proposals were distributed to Wiltshire Police, the locally elected Wiltshire Council Member and Westwood Parish Council.

 

The formal advertisement of the Traffic Regulation Order for Westwood took place between 16 August and 9 September 2013. The advertisement took the form of press notices, together with site notices, displayed at regular locations within the area of the proposal restriction. On conclusion of the advertisement period a single letter of objection was received along with nine letters of support.
