CS-01-14 - Approved - School Term and Holidays 2015/2016

Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Children's Services

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

The purpose of this report is to ask the cabinet member to agree the school term and holiday dates for 2015/2016 for Wiltshire’s Community, Voluntary Controlled and Community Special Schools.

Decision:

I have taken into account the views of those responding to the consultation, the opinions of the Joint Consultative Committee and the views of members.

I approve the 195 day calendar for School Term & Holiday Dates for 2015/2016 as shown in Option 4 of appendix C.

This decision was published on the 30 April 2014 and will come into force on the 9 May 2014.

Alternative options considered:

It was decided to consult on a 195 term day calendar for 2015/2016 based on the results of previous years’ consultations. This had revealed that the majority of schools were not in favour of options showing less than 195 days due to the lack of flexibility offered for the setting of teacher development days and therefore the difficulties in securing quality trainers.
