Purpose:

To consider the comments received following the formal consultation associated with the proposed Zebra Crossing.

I approve that:

 

(i)       The proposal be implemented as advertised.

 

(ii)      The objectors be informed accordingly.

 

 

          This decision was published on 12 June 2014 and will come into force on 20 June 2014.           

Reasons for the decision:

The scheme has been developed following a detailed investigation of the demand and satisfies the criteria set out in the Wiltshire Council Practice Document for Crossings.

 

The scheme has been developed following considerable discussion within the local community, including the Community Area Transport Group, Parish Council and Dauntsey School.

Alternative options considered:

To:

 

(i)       Implement the proposal as advertised.

 

(ii)      Abandon the proposal.

Other reasons / organisations consulted

The scheme has been discussed and supported by the Devizes Community Area Transport Group, a sub group of the Community Area Board.

 

The scheme has the support of the Parish Council and Local Member – Mr Richard Gamble.

 

The proposal has been formally advertised between 28 March and 25 April 2014.  During this period four comments have been received. Three outline objection to the proposal; this included the neighbouring parish of Market Lavington. One comment in support for the proposal was received from West Lavington Parish Council, who also took the opportunity to make additional comments on the proposal. The comments received, along with the officer comments, are available in Appendix 2.
