To delegate authority to the Associate Director for People and Business in consultation with the cabinet member, to grant either leases (to a maximum of 7 years) or licences to Town or Parish Council’s for the future management of play areas across the County. The decision is subject to satisfactory discharge of the conditions in s123 of the Local Government Act 1972 in respect of disposal of open space.
DECISION MADE
Following consultation with officers I give notice that I have made the decision set out in the attached report.
This decision was published on 21 March 2017 and will come into force on 29 March 2017.
To secure the provision of the play areas for the residents of Wiltshire and promote the principle of local provision of services at a local level.
Not grant of leases to Town and Parish Councils, but this will result in lack of maintenance of play equipment with the closure of a number of play areas due to budget pressures resulting in an inability to fund essential safety repairs to the equipment and surfaces.
