Chairman's Welcome and Introductions

Minutes:

The Chairman welcomed everybody to the Corsham Town Hall.

 

The Area Board members introduced themselves.

Corsham Connections Volunteer Test Run grant funding application – Cllr Ruth Hopkinson Declared an interest as a trustee of the organisation, she would not take part in the debate or vote on the application.

Police Update

Inspector James Brain – Wiltshire Police outlined the written report

 

Points made included:

 

Closure Order Vine Court – Following the arrests and executions of a drugs warrant the team had been able to secure a court closure order in order to prevent the ASB and drug use. Active patrols and regular checks would continue.

 

Speeding – That the team were working closely with Community Speedwatch and were actively enforcing in those hotspot areas. 

 

Local Licensing Checks – That convenience stores were being highlighted as being subject to the underage supply of ‘Puff Bars’, tobacco and alcohol. As such this was a priority for the Neighbourhood and Response Teams. Licensing and Trading Standards were being consulted to achieve a joint partnership solution.

 

That Pc Adam Neish had been appointed as the new Corsham beat officer working alongside PCSO Cory Mack.

 

That Inspector Brain had been promoted and that a new sector inspector would be appointed in due course to oversee the Corsham community area.  Inspector Brain advised that he would still be involved with Corsham which pleased the Area Board members.

 

The Chairman thanked Inspector Brain for his update and promotion.

Shared Lives

Amy Smith - Manager, Shared Lives Service, Wiltshire Council outlined her presentation.

 

Points made included:

 

That the SharedLives Servicehelped people tolive aspart ofa family, within thecarers home,where theyreceived thesupport orcare that they needed.

 

The serviceplaced adultswho hadmental healthneeds orlearning disabilities,physical impairments,or wereelderly, orthose who,for a variety ofreasons, could notmanage tolive withoutsupport.

 

The service had existed in Wiltshirefor over 40years, wherecare andsupport for up tothree people wasprovided in the homeof the Shared Lives carer.

 

Becominga Shared Livescarer

 

Asa SharedLives carer,you wouldwelcome anadult with careor supportneeds into yourhome ona shortterm orlong-term basis.Youwould supportthem todevelop theirskills, independence,and social inclusion.

 

Carerscould befamilies, couplesor individuals,the service welcomed peoplewith awide rangeof skillsets andlife experiences.

 

Noqualifications wereneeded, andcarers couldcombine thisrole withother work commitments. However, a willingnessto shareyour lifewith others,and provide care andsupport withenthusiasm, motivationand commitmentwas important.

 

As aShared Livescarer,following anapproval process,you wouldreceive aweekly fee(£371- £571per week)and workas a self-employedprofessional.

 

The Chairman thanked Amy Smith for her presentation.

The Wiltshire Councillors will consider the following applications to the Community Area Grants Scheme:

·         Celebrating Age Wiltshire requesting £1,500

Climate Group – Cllr Derek Walters

 

·         That a successful meeting with Lackham College had been held, with discussions re their intentions concerning carbon reduction and the robotic milking parlour.

 

·         That the group were looking to organise a visit to a local windfarm.

 

 

Supporting the local economy – Cllr Ruth Hopkinson

 

·         That meetings had been held with Corsham Mansion House and the Chamber of Commerce.

 

·         Was working with Corsham Town Council to set up a networking meeting with local businesses.

·         Corsham Ukrainian Hub:  Saturday 15 October, 2 – 4pm - Pound Arts Centre.

Any Other Business

Minutes:

Cllr Derek Walters advised that in the ongoing fight to combat rural speeding a meeting was to be held with Wiltshire Council Highways officers to look to try and bottom out if Wiltshire Council highways infrastructure could be used to site auto speedwatch cameras on.

 

Speed Indicator Devices – that data from these devices gave a good indication of where hotspots were, and where police resources could be perhaps better deployed. That it would be advantageous to get this SID data brought together to form a map for Police and Speedwatch groups to use.

 

Jan Morse introduced herself as the Area Board representative for GreenSquare Accord.
