The Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting of the Tidworth Area Board and thanked the Phoenix Hall for hosting and the fine refreshments provided.

Rights of Way Improvements

Nick Cowen – Wiltshire Council, Rights of Way Team

Minutes:

Nick Cowen – Senior Rights of Way Warden, Wiltshire Council gave a short presentation highlighting Wiltshire’s footpaths and how volunteers could help to keep them open and accessible to all.

 

Points made included:

 

·         The importance of good dialogue with the parishes to install kissing gates etc.

 

·         Good work being carried out across the county by members of the Ramblers Association.

 

·         Involving local people to highlight local issues.

 

·         Highlighting good practices from other Area Boards.

 

The Chairman thanked Nick Cowen for his presentation. It was agreed that Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling would organise a meeting with Nick Cowen to get the ball rolling re the Tidworth community area.

Community Resilience Plans

Sarah Kelly – Wiltshire Council Emergency Planning Resilience & Response Officer

Minutes:

Sarah Kelly – Wiltshire Council Emergency Planning Resilience & Response Officer gave a short presentation that highlighted the need for local communities to draw up their own community resilience plan.

 

It was agreed that Marc Read would meet with Sarah Kelly to set up a meeting with any interested parish councils.

 

The Chairman thanked Sarah Kelly for her presentation.

Village Soldiers

A presentation from author Wayne Price on his book “Village Soldiers”, which highlights the stories of the men of Netheravon who fought in the Great War.

Minutes:

Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling introduced a short film that outlined author Wayne Price’s book “Village Soldiers”, which highlights the stories of the men of Netheravon who fought in the Great War.

 

Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling thanked the Area Board for the grand funding which had helped to publish the book and fund local remembrance events.

 

The Chairman thanked Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling and all those involved for the success of the project.

Community Engagement Manager Update

Marc Read

Minutes:

Marc Read – Community Area Manger gave a brief update.

 

Points made included:

 

·         That around 2,000 people had attended the Tidworth community area Family Learning Festival events held during October 2018.

 

·         That it was expected some 10,000 trees would be planted across Wiltshire as part of the world war 1 commemorations.

Health & Wellbeing Group - Reia Jones

·         That service families returning from Germany were finding it difficult to find a local GP.

·         Next meeting on Monday 7 January 2019.

Dementia Action Alliance Group - Brian Pratt

·         Wasworking with Marc Read to re-establish the group.

Multi Agency Forum – Marc Read

·         Next meeting would be during March 2019.

·         That local schools were not aware of SEN children arriving back from Germany.

·         That expectations would need to be managed re places in local schools.

Education Group/Sports and Leisure Group – Col Jaime Balls

·         That the group had met on the 16 November 2018.

·         That Col Jaime Balls had now met with Dr Antonia Dawes - Kingston University to work on the MCI project.

·         That the group’s monthly coffee mornings held at the Garrison Theatre were proving useful.

Housing and Built Environment Group – Humph Jones

·         That the group had met on the 13 November 2018.

·         That the group was now sorting out its terms of reference.

·         Next meeting on the 9 April 2019.

Community Area Transport Group (CATG) - Update

·         That the report of the CATG meeting dated 8 September 2018 were noted.

 

·         That two bids to the substantive scheme had been approved by Wiltshire Council.

·         Lt Col Nick Turner was introduced by the Garrison Commander.

·         That Lt Col Nick Turner would give an MCI presentation at a future Area Board meeting.

 

 

Tidworth Town Council

 

·         That the Remembrance event and Multi-faith service had been well attended.

 

 

Ludgershall Town Council

 

·         That the Remembrance event had been well attended.

 

 

Everleigh Parish Council – The written report was noted.

 

 

Fittleton Parish Council

 

·         That the “Tidy Weekend” had gone well – thanks to all who took part.

Grant Review - Tidworth & Ludgershall Men's Shed

Mike Giles gave a brief presentation which outlined how funding from the Tidworth Area Board had benefitted the Tidworth & Ludgershall Men's Shed.
