What is it about? To bring councillors up to date with recent initiatives to develop volunteering across the county and engage more people in supporting their communities. There will be an opportunity for councillors to highlight good examples from their own divisions/community areas and hence share ideas with colleagues.
Brief outline of the session:
· Quiz- facts and figures about volunteering in Wiltshire, including quotes from volunteers about what they get out of it · Wiltshire’s Draft Volunteering Plan- brief overview and key actions to develop volunteering for all · The role of the GROW service and Volunteer Centre Wiltshire · Volunteering and support for our increasing older population · New ways of engaging people in volunteering- the ‘Time Credits’ approach · Interactive session on volunteering in your division/community area. What’s happening, what works well, what needs developing
This interactive session will be hosted by our VCS Support Unit, together with key voluntary sector partners: Sandie Lewis, Head of Strategy, Communities and Voluntary Sector Support; Karen Scott, Community Manager (Volunteering Development); Janice Fortune, Chief Officer, Develop -which runs the GROW service and Volunteer Centre Wiltshire; Penny Church, Assistant Director, Age UK Wiltshire
