i.          The Board considered a grant application from the Kennet and Avon Woodturning Club. Details were sought on the number of members of the club and equipment that would be purchased to stream demonstrations of club activity. Following discussion, and on the motion of Councillor Jo Trigg, seconded by Councillor Steve Oldrieve, it was,

 

Resolved:

 

To award £1000.00 to Kennet and Avon Woodturning Club for the purchase of live interactive demonstration equipment.

ii.          The Board considered a grant application from the Monday-Wednesday Club. Details were sought on the application, designed to improve online communication and interaction for members many of whom had been shielding during Covid-19. Following discussion, and on the motion of Councillor Steve Oldrieve, seconded by Councillor Andrew Bryant, it was,

To award £722.00 to the Monday-Wednesday Club for club communication.

iii.          The Board considered a grant application from Trustees of North Bradley Progressive Hall. Details were sought on the proposed boiler installation and other hall improvements, and of general contributions to the upkeep of the hall from the parish council. Following discussion, and on the motion of Councillor Ernie Clark, seconded by Councillor Steve Oldrieve, it was,

 

Resolved:

 

To award £1725.00 to the Trustees of North Bradley Progressive Hall for a Progressive Hall boiler and painting.

iv.          The Board considered a grant application from the Our Time Project for a health and wellbeing grant, which was recommended for approval by the health and wellbeing group. Details were sought on the application and group, who delivered theatre and movie workshops with elders to stimulate them physically and mentally, and which during Covid-19 needed to work online more. Following discussion, and on the motion of Councillor Ernie Clark, seconded by Councillor David Halik, it was,

To award £950.00 to the Our Time Project for the Covid Response Our Time Trowbridge project.

v.          The Board considered a grant application from Collaborative Schools Ltd for the Community Digital Divide project. Details were sought on the application to provide IT resources to young people and families in the Trowbridge area impacted by Covid-19. The size of the grant was noted, and the applicant confirmed that an award of £20,000 would enable around 100 devices to be provided, which would be distributed on the basis of deprivation. Following discussion, and on the motion of Councillor Steve Oldrieve, seconded by Councillor Stewart Palmen, it was,

To award £20,000.00 to Collaborative Schools Ltd for the Community Digital Divide project.

vi.          The Board considered a grant application from the Hilperton Village Hall for £665.00. Details were sought on the application to repair elements of the village hall, and it was confirmed an application had also been made to the parish council for half the cost of the project. Following discussion, and on the motion of Councillor Steve Oldrieve, seconded by Councillor David Halik, it was,

To award £665.00 to the Hilperton Village Hall for Roof and Chimney repair, subject to matched funding from Hilperton Parish Council.

vii.          The Board considered a grant application from St Thomas Church. Details were sought on the application for refurbishment of the toilet facilities, which was part of a wider refurbishment of the church, and broad community use of the church. Following discussion, and on the motion of Councillor Ernie Clark, seconded by Councillor Stewart Palmen, it was,

To award £5000.00 to St Thomas Church for toilet refurbishment at Holy Trinity Church.

viii.          The Board considered a grant application from Naturally Social. Details were sought on the application, which involved refurbishing and recycling laptops and other devices and redistributing them to those with a need, with a large increase in such need during Covid-19. It was suggested that they also be able to work with Collaborative Schools in this work. Following discussion, and on the motion of Councillor Steve Oldrieve, seconded by Councillor Jo Trigg, it was,

To award £5000.00 to the Naturally Social for the Wiltshire Digital Drive project.

ix.          The Board considered a grant application from Help Counselling Services, which was a health and wellbeing grant which had been recommended for approval by the health and wellbeing group. Details were sought on services provided including trained counsellors, and the expansion that had been required over the course of the last year due to Covid-19. Following discussion, and on the motion of Councillor David Halik, seconded by Councillor Jo Trigg, it was,

To award £1300.00 to the HELP Counselling Services for service expansion.

x.          The Board considered a grant application from Trowbridge Environmental Community. Details were sought on the application to provide masterclasses on reducing waste, particular plastic waste. To award £950.00 to Trowbridge Environmental Community for waste free masterclasses.

xi.          The Board considered a grant application from Group 5. Details were sought on the application, which was to support the charity’s work collecting, refurbishing and donating furniture to those with a need in West Wiltshire, referred by hostels, social workers and others. Following discussion, and on the motion of Councillor Steve Oldrieve, seconded by Councillor Jo Trigg, it was,

To award £1000.00 to Group 5 for furniture recycling to needy families.

xii.          The Board considered a grant application from Families Out Loud, which was a health and wellbeing grant recommended for approval by the health and wellbeing group. Details were sought on the work of the group, which provided support to families impacted by addiction of a family member, including professional counselling and support groups and which was seeking to expand its work in Trowbridge. Following discussion, and on the motion of Councillor Jo Trigg, seconded by Councillor Steve Oldrieve, it was,

To award £5642.97 to Families Out Loud for service expansion in Trowbridge.

xiii.          The Board considered a grant application from the Trowbridge Weavers Market Group. Details were sought on the application to relaunch the market following successful events in 2019 which had not been able to take place in 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions. There was discussion of how the group could work with other markets operating locally. Following discussion, and on the motion of Councillor Steve Oldrieve, seconded by Councillor Jo Trigg, it was,

To award £1500.00 to Trowbridge Weavers Market Group for Weavers Market Relaunch.

xiv.          The Board considered a grant application from the Hilperton School PFA for funding for an all-weather pitch. Details were sought on the level of funding raised for the total project cost, other school facilities, assurance that the pitch would be open to use by other groups in the community and how this could occur, and possible contributions from the parish council. Following discussion, and on the motion of Councillor Andrew Bryant, seconded by Councillor Edward Kirk, it was,

 

Resolved:

 

To award £3000.00 to Hilperton School PFA for an all-weather pitch, subject to a matched contribution from Hilperton Parish Council.

xv.          The Board considered a grant application from the Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce and Invest in Trowbridge. Details were sought on the project to produce artworks to form part of an nature themed art trail around the town to improve its visuals, including potential difficulties in obtaining landlord permission to display in closed or open shopfronts, if the artwork could in future be sold to fund other project investment and whether the Chamber should make community grants. Following discussion, and on the motion of Councillor Steve Oldrieve, seconded by Councillor Stewart Palmen, it was,

To award £5000.00 to Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce and Invest in Trowbridge for Windows on Nature Art Trail.
