The Independent Living Fund (ILF) is a fund operated by DWP that provides funding to 82 disabled people in Wiltshire to allow them to live more independently. The ILF will close March 2015. The purpose of this report is to look at the impact of the closure for those 82 people and for Wiltshire Council. Disabled people are concerned that their current levels of support will be reduced. There is a financial risk to Wiltshire Council – although the ILF funding will be made available to LAs, there is no guidance yet as to the process or level of funding that LAs can bid for. A decision will need to be made about how the closure will be managed and whether Wiltshire Council offers any ‘transitional protection’ for ILF users to maintain their current levels of support.
