Arrangements to be put in place following the end of the Department for Education Trial on Permanent Exclusion and Alternative Provision

When YPSS was closed the money previously used for the Service was devolved to the Secondary Schools, they agreed to take legal responsibility for Permanent Exclusions as part of the DfE Trial.  The Trial ends in July’14, an alternative mechanism to manage the Permanently Excluded students need to be put in place.

Consultation process

The Headteachers would like to continue to manage the Alternative Provision and Permanent exclusions themselves. A group of Headteachers have worked with LA staff from EOTAS; legal ;finance and admissions to evaluate the impact of the Trial and agree a robust Service level Agreement to carry forward the present arrangements.
