Consultation process

Wiltshire Council has developed a scheme with the aim to improve safe routes to schools for pedestrians and cyclists from Sandpit Road through Abberd Way.  A working group has been set up to prioritise and spend funds obtained from a Section 106 agreement.

As part of the scheme development, plans were displayed in the Calne Community Hub, on Calne community websites and shared with the Area Board. A letter explaining the scheme was also sent to local residents.

As part of the formal statutory process, copies of the proposal were distributed to Wiltshire Police, the Wiltshire Council Member and Calne Town Council.

The formal advertisement of the Traffic Regulation Order for the waiting restrictions took place between 24 December 2013 and 27 January 2014.  The advertisement took the form of press notices, together with site notices, displayed at regular locations within the area of the proposal restriction.  On conclusion of the advertisement period one letter of objection was received.
