L-09-20 Chippenham Station Hub - Approval to enter into a funding agreement with Great Western Railway

Chippenham Station Hub is a Local Growth Funded project delivered in partnership with the South West Local Enterprise Partnership (SWLEP), for which Wiltshire Council is acting as Scheme Promotor and Accountable Body.

 

A key element of Chippenham Station Hub are improvements to the Chippenham Station Square to provide a safe walking route to the new lift on the northern side.

 

This report seeks authority to sign a Legal Agreement for up to £1,4M with Great Western Railway (GWR)  to enable the delivery of improvements to the Chippenham Station Square as well as a safe walking route to the new lift on the northern side which will enable the lift to open to the public and delegate authority to the Corporate Director for Place and Environment to sign the contract and agree terms, conditions and any other consequential matters including dealing with any project underspend.

Consultation process

The Chippenham station square and safe walking route improvements project has been developed by GWR (the delivery partners) in consultation with the SWLEP who are funding the project, and Wiltshire Council. There has also been consultation with key stakeholders such as Network Rail, Trans Wilts, Local Councillors and the public.

 

The legal agreement is being developed in consultation with Wiltshire Council’s legal team with input from GWR and the SWLEP.
