Purpose:

To consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of speed limit changes associated with the request for a 20 mph speed limit on Low Road, Little Cheverell and to recommend implementation as advertised.

DECISION MADE

         

I approve that:

 

(i)       The proposals be implemented as advertised.

 

(ii)      The objectors be informed accordingly.

 

This decision was published on 15 February and will come into force on 23 February 2018.             

Reasons for the decision:

The proposals have been assessed and are in accordance with the guidance provided by the Department for Transport, Circular 01/13 ‘Setting Local Speed Limits’, and Wiltshire Council’s own adopted policy for 20 mph restrictions. The proposal has the support of the Parish Council and the Devizes CATG.

 

Alternative options considered:

To:

 

(i)            Implement the advertised changes.

 

(ii)           Abandon the proposals and retain the existing restriction.

 

Other reasons / organisations consulted

The Parish of Little Cheverell in the Devizes Community Area requested the introduction of a

20 mph limit during 2016/17. This request was considered by the Devizes Community Area Transport Group (CATG) and supported by the Area Board. The initial assessment was funded by the Parish Council, and following consideration the recommendation supported. The Devizes CATG has supported the Parish Council’s request to implement the changes recommended. Members of the public and the Emergency Services have been consulted through the statutory Traffic Regulation Order process.

 

No comment was received was from the affected Wiltshire Council Member.
