To:

(i)         Consider objections to the advertised proposals for the implementation of a 20-mph speed limit in Corsham Town Centre.

(ii)        Recommend the making of the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO).

(i)            I approve the proposed TRO be implemented as advertised.

(ii)          The objectors to be informed accordingly.

This decision was published on 2 September 2024 and will come into force on 10 September 2024.

The proposed 20mph speed limit will help the Council improve its statutory duty to improve traffic conditions and road safety by altering the speed limit at the advertised location providing a positive impact on road safety. This is in line with National Guidance and the changes are proposed following a speed limit assessment.

The proposals are supported by the Corsham Area Board, Corsham LHFIG, Wiltshire Councillors, Corsham Town Council.

To:

(i)         Implement the proposals as advertised.

(ii)        Not implement the proposals.

Consultation has been undertaken with:

•           The elected Wiltshire Council Member

•           The elected Corsham Town Council through the statutory TRO consultation process

•           Members of the Corsham Local Highways & Footways Improvement Group (LHFIG) Including elected Wiltshire Councillors, and Corsham Area Board.

•           Emergency services through the statutory TRO consultation process

•           Members of the public through the statutory TRO consultation process

During the advertisement period a total of 8 items of correspondence were received in response to the proposals contained within the advertised TRO. Of the 8 items of correspondence received, 5 expressed support for the Council’s proposals, 1 objected to the proposals in their current form and 2 provided comments only.
