DECISION MADE
I approve that:
(i) The restrictions as advertised be implemented.
(ii) The additional restrictions in Appendix 3 be advertised in accordance with the suggestions made by Avebury Parish Council and National Trust.
(iii) The objectors be advised accordingly.
This decision was published on 13 May 2022 and will come into force on 21 May 2022.
The advertisement for ‘No waiting at any time’ is necessary to enable car parking to be controlled and to enable repair and protection of the verge. No objections were received to the extent of the restrictions as originally advertised. Comments were received requesting additions to that originally proposed. These were discussed at a site meeting with representatives from Avebury Parish Council and National Trust.
The comments set out in Appendix 2 on the various objections received indicate that it is considered appropriate to introduce the scheme with the amendments detailed in Appendix 3. However, the proposal will have to be re advertised, providing the opportunity for comment, as the length of waiting restrictions have been significantly extended.
To:
(i) Implement the advertised changes.
(ii) Abandon the proposal and retain the existing restriction.
(iii) Advertise the changes as suggested by Avebury Parish Council and National Trust.
Other reasons / organisations consulted
The consultation ended on 9 August 2021.
The proposal has been developed following prioritisation by Marlborough Community Area Transport Group (CATG) which includes local Wiltshire and Town Councillors.
